Calmer Privacy Policy

Overview

Calmer is an Apple Watch and iPhone app that helps during panic attacks with guided breathing, grounding, and body-scan exercises. This policy explains what data Calmer accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.

Health Data

With your permission, Calmer reads your live heart rate through Apple's HealthKit during a session to adapt its guidance and decide when a session has settled. Calmer does not write data back to HealthKit, does not access any other health records, and does not use heart-rate data for any purpose other than driving the in-session experience.

Where Your Data Lives

Calmer does not have a backend server and does not send your heart rate, session history, or emergency contact details to Kieran or to any third party. Data stays on your device and syncs only between your own Apple Watch and iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.

Session History

Past session data (such as duration and heart-rate zone) is stored locally on your iPhone so you can review it in the app. This history is not uploaded anywhere and is removed if you delete the app.

Emergency Contact & Crisis Resources

If you choose to save a trusted emergency contact, that information is stored locally on your device only. Calmer does not contact anyone automatically and does not transmit this information anywhere; it is shown to you so that you can reach out yourself if needed.

Third Parties

Calmer does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party framework involved is Apple's own HealthKit and WatchConnectivity, governed by Apple's own privacy practices.

Children's Privacy

Calmer is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Not A Medical Device

Calmer is a wellness tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose panic disorder or replace professional care. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a mental health professional.

Changes To This Policy

This policy may be updated as Calmer evolves. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
